I just upgraded my 2x 8800GTs SLI which were giving me a score of 12500 give or take...

I decided to go with the BFG GTX 275 OC. So I started out by buying one card, only gave me a score of 13559, not much of a jump but decided to go ahead and purchase a second BFG GTX 275 OC for SLI and got a huge jump to 20050. Also had to purchased a 1000W PSU, the 650W i had before just wasn't going to run both 275s in SLI.

Mind you, 20050 probably doesn't seem like a lot but this is the first step in a major upgrade for me. I'm still running a OC'd Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz. This march, i'm looking to upgrade MB, RAM & PROC to an i7 Core. Not sure if i'm going to go i7 920 or 860. I'm leaning toward the 920 though. Intel seems to keep changing the sockets around, 1366, 1156 and i've read about an 1156B & C, and an 1155 socket... confusing...

However, the video cards were definitely worth the upgrade.

Santa is giving me money for a new display this year. Santa just gives me money because I'm to damn picky for him to figure out what I want. haha

xmas bonus is going toward finishing off the car payment this year. I already blew money on an upgrade this year.... Twice. hehe.

3DMark loves Nvidia, and loves Nvidia in SLI even MORE. I only pull 17543 on Vantage with a 920 @4GHz and a stock clocked 5870.

(2) GTX 275's will boink a single 5870. Zoom Zoom.

guess if i got one of these "christmas bonuses" that you speak of, i would be able to get another 5870, but oh well :??:

Haha, no pay increases for a year, and next year they are small. At least they gave us our small bonuses. I'm grateful for that.

1 5870 is enough dude, seriously. I was messing around with OCing it, but really I didn't even have a reason to because everything plays so well as it is. The MSI tool is awesome and works with any brand. It has Rivatuner built in specially made for the 58xx cards.

Whatever you do with the processor upgrade, go with LGA 1366. Since you're running dual GPUs, you don't want to be caught with your pants down with a lame PCIe bandwidth bottleneck! I'm sure you know this, but I didn't like that uncertainty in your decision to go with an i7 920....

btw... Can I has some money please?

Yea, i think i'm going to go i7 920 for the reasons your referring to... was considering the i7 860 because it was cheaper but best not to cheap out on technology seeing as how i'm extremely wealthy :D (only in my dreams...)
