790gx AM2 board ompatibility with 3 core AM3 CPU

check if the bios revision allows for the am3 cpu.. if it does then yes.. also check the tdp of the cpu and the tdp of the motherboard..

(sounds like a stupid response but the motherboard manufacturer has to enable am3 compatability before am3 cpus work on am2+ sockets. am3 will not work on am2, but on am2+ and am3 sockets.. you need to update bios before you put in your am3 cpu btw)

often new rev boards won't need an update BIOS, not that its that hard to do it
