Windows XP will not update

My system indicates there are updates available and I use the express update function which shows the updates have been installed but, on checking, it is obvious they have not been installed and the updates available indicator remains on. There are no error messages. I have used Mr. Fixit and this undicates all problems have beeen fixed but they obviously have not! What can I do to ensure the updates are installed. I am operating the Zone Alarm Firwall.

Choose the custom install - see what the updates are for. - Net.framework by chance ?

Thank you. The updates for Security Updates for Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP2.on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XPx86. The updates are KB2604092, KB2656369 AND KB2686828

Those are Old updates which either have been previously installed, or were superseded by later updates. Un check them in the custom install, as they are not needed. Why they keep sending, I do not know. Eventually you will cease receiving them !
