Some files just disappear though still listed in my documents

I have lost a list of about 100 names, addresses and phone numbers of business associates, friends and family. They were saved in My Documents under " PHONE NUMBERS" ( which is still there) but nothing comes up. Can you help?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

A file could be accidentally deleted while a reference to it could still appear in the Recent Documents list. If it's been moved by mistake, that link in Recent won't point to it so it can't open it any more. You say nothing comes up - does that mean the document exists but is blank?

Start off by right clicking your Recycle Bin icon and click on Open. If it's there, click to restore and it will go back to its original place. If you still can't find it, post back for details of some undeleting software.
