Question about ram upgrade

i got 2 1gb ddr2 800(dual channel) and i wanted at least 1 more gb of ram so would i be able to buy just 1 stick or would i need to buy another dual channel set

Some information about your motherboard (or laptop if this isn't for a desktop) would be helpful... but generally adding a 3rd stick will default your motherboard into single channel. You're better off doing nothing or upgrading to a 4gb (2x2gb setup)
