Here is my PC:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01775359&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_us/c01775359/loc:2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3998947&lang=en

As you can see I have a 4350 which is not sufficient for the games I play, I plan on getting a 9800GT but I don't want screw my PSU up or my mobo. So do you guys think a 9800gt like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304&cm_re=9800gt-_-14-133-304-_-Product or BFG's 9800GT http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BFG+-+NVIDIA+GeForce+9800+GT+1GB+GDDR3+PCI+Express+Graphics+Card/9339192.p?id=1218102780717&skuId=9339192&st=9800gt&cp=1&lp=1

will perform okay given my 300W PSU?

Basic Specs:

HP Pavilion Elite e9107c Desktop PC

Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33 GHz

Came with HD4350

8GB DDR3 RAM

750GB HDD

It is a fair chance it will run the eco versions of the 9800GT that don't have a power plug. Other cards you could look at is HD4670 or GT240 which are even more power efficient.
I doubt that PSU in your HP can really sustain 300W for any significant amount of time. It may run for a while, but the longer you play a game the more your PSU would be stressed and the more likely it will fry. Personally I wouldn't put anything more than a 9500GT in there, but you may be able to get by with a Radeon 4670 or a GT 240

After looking at reviews of BFG's Eco-Intelligence 9800gt it seems that people ran it well on low power systems. I think I'll go pick that up. But thanks for the feedback guys.

Just to add my .02.. I run a 9800GT Eco with a E6300, no DVD in a mini-itx box with a caviar green HD using a 250W PSU.. It runs beautifully. No errors, no reboots, no issues.. A bit warm in the case, but it is the size of a 12-pack of soda cans, so what can I expect.
