I want to game at 1920 x 1080..

The HP only has a 300w psu. I know ill have to replace the psu.

I would like to know if it would run a ati 5770 card. If so can someone recommend a good 5770 and then a good
psu that will run it..maybe a combo deal

Also if i keep the 300w psu what would be a good card.

Yes it would run it fine--although thats probably the highest I would go with it. Thats the PSU that I have--its a great deal right now. The fan is so quiet I cant tell when its on and it blows cool air out the back of my comp. I would, however, consider bumping up the 450w version if you plan to 1. overclock, 2. plug in a lot of other drives etc all at once, 3. Want the 5 year warranty instead of the 3 year.

I dont think there is that much of a difference between 5770 models this early in the cards lifetime... its mostly a matter of brand preference.

I think the best card you could get with your 300w psu would probably be Nvidia's new GT 240 at around $100 bucks.

Other potential choices include
-Slightly slower, but cheaper, Nvida 9600GT Green edition (its underclocked so it doesnt need a 6-pin)
-Slower and cheaper yet (but awesome value) 4670.

The power difference between getting a new 5770 and a GT 240 really is as significant as the ~$75 price difference however. Also, getting a good PSU will make your computer run cooler, more efficiently and help protect it from some minor power surges+ etc. So I think you should spend the ~$200 to get what you really want.
