I am a first time builder and i want to build a good gaming pc.
I understand system components but i want to know whether my whole build will actually work.

I need your advice on how i can improve it or change components to make it work.

Thanks in advance.

These are all from Ebuyer.co.uk and i would like to know if my build will work.

1. I am stuck between the Ati 4870 and GTX260, i have read reviews and found the GTX performs better all round.

2. Also i need advice on the motherboard. Should i get a nForce chipset or stick with the one i have now?

3. Also will the psu power my whole build?

this is what i would do. i would get a 5770 over a 4870 or 260:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

also, i would get this motherboard (if you canbuy from newegg then get the combo deal below it)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

i would also recommend getting a 500 Gb drive:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and get this psu instead:

if you cant do all of this, you definitely need to get more ram. hope that helped :)

Why would you choose 5770 to the GTX because the GTX out performs the 4870 and the 4870 out performs 5770 even though it supports dx11 but thats irrelevant because i want powerful gfx.

But as my budget build is at the moment, will it work? I can post links to each item if you want..?

To the review it says this...
"A single Radeon HD 5770 is slightly outperformed by the Radeon HD 4870 and GeForce GTX 260, while ATI’s Radeon HD 5750 is bested by Nvidia’s GeForce GTS 250."

Can you post ebuyer links when giving advice please. Much appreciated.

So would you choose 5770, 4870 or GTX 260 because 4870 kills the 5770 and 4870 is the same as 5770. What do you say?

o sorry bout that, i am so used to newegg, but it really depends. if you want a future proof very good video card, then 5770. if you want an older but still very very good video card, then 4870, and if you want nvidia, then 260. i have used the 4890, just a bit better than the 4870, and i was very pleased with it.

lol its okay :p
will 5770 run crysis, farcry 2 eaisily with gfx set to the maximum on everything?

Whats better 4870 or 260?
Ill post the links because i need to know if my build will work..

The 260 216 is a tad faster than the 4870.
5770 & 4870 perform pretty much the same.

Back to your build.
HDD: Samsung F3, faster and maybe even cheaper.
Case: lol, teh cheapo!
RAM: 4 gigs if Vista or higher.
Motherboard: Why not the GA-MA770T-UD3P?

Here, compare the video cards yourself.

nothing really runs crysis on all high, but the 4870 runs it faster than both of the other 2, so yea. a 4850x2 or 4870x2 would also be good for you, if you are willing t ospend the xtra money. a 4890 also outperforms everything, for not much more money.
