Hard Goes Off then Back On Periodically

Sometimes when I am watching a video stored on my Seagate 750 GB drive it will stop and say cannot find file. If I wait a few seconds it will come back like it has just been discovered as new hardware. It is an internal drive stored in an external Rosewill enclosure from Newegg. Is there a way for me to test if it is a problem with the drive or something else. As an added bit of information sometimes the lights in my computer will dim and then pop back on. Just wondering if these could be related as a PSU problem.

it should not be a PSU issue if the HDD has its own power plug.

you can try taking the HDD out of the enclosure and plug it into the inside of you PC.
that way you can test if it is the HDD or the enclosure causing the issue.

when it is plugged in to the computer i still periodically have the problems. The confusing part is that when i use the seagate diagnostics (seatools) i get a return of no errors.

How about trying this HDD in enclosure, on some other computer and see if the problem still persists.

as someone else pointed out the psu for the enclosure is separate so i wouldn't think that it would change anything. i can try it but it doesn't seem likely
