I have a single Sapphire 1GB 4870 HD graphics card with 2x DVI outputs, I can connect a HDMI cable using an adapter, but I was wondering whether it is possible to send Sound Data through the HDMI cable if I was connecting it to a TV.

I have an ASUS P6T SE motherboard, and it has an option on the BIOS to use "HDMI Output", under SPDIF settings, but I havent connected any extra cable onto the Graphics Card, neither do I have the option.

Does it send the Sound Data in otherways? under Windows Sounds I have the option of "ATI HDMI Output" as one of the Speakers/Sound Outputs

I confused whether I need to connects the sound directly to the TV or just use the HDMI cable
