PARTITION STYLE: NOT APPLICABLE

CAPACITY: 0MB

UNALLOCATED SPACE: 0MB

RESERVED SPACE: 0MB

UNREADABLE.....

THIS IS THE MESSAGE THAT I GET FROM MY IOMEGA EGO EXTERNAL USB HDD,
AFTER A DISK DEFRAGMENT WAS NOT COMPLETE.I CHECK MY DEVICE MANAGEMENT...
AND EVERYTHING IS DETECTED, BUT WHEN I CHECK DISK MANAGEMENT MY IOMEGA
EGO EXT.HDD AND DRIVE LETTER WAS NOT SHOWING AT ALL. I ALSO CHECKED THE
MY COMPUTER STATUS TO SEE IF IT WAS THERE...AND IT WAS NOT. NOTE THAT
THE DRIVES THAT ARE THERE ARE C: DRIVE AND MY D: DRIVE DVD/CD/ROM...IT
ALSO SHOWS AN E:D RIVE CD ROM, SOMETHING THAT I DO NOT HAVE AS AND EXTRA.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT WHEN I WAS DEFRAGEMENTING THE IOMEGA EGO EXT.
HDD, IT DID NOT FINISH...INSTEAD, IT SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS A POP UP THAT
I COULD NOT CATCH IN TIME...BUT TO A FAST GLANCE, IT SAID BITMAP AND
SOMETHING BAD AND DATA..THAT IS ALL I COULD CATCH.HOPING DID NOT LOSE ANYTHING

I AM NOT SURE HOW TO GET IT BACK UP AND WORKING AGAIN. I PRAY THAT
SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO HELP ME...I HAVE PICTURES AND PERSONAL INFO.
THAT I CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE...

SO I AM BEGGING ANYONE TO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! HELP ME OUT STEP BY STEP WITH THIS MATTER

I HAE A GATEWAY MX6426 MODEL LAPTOP, IF THIS HELPS ALSO :)

THANK YOU :)

OMG CAPS!!!!!! if you want help dont list your email, This isnt allowed on the forums and no-one is going to respond to you.

Now on to your problem, it sounds to me like you have a hard drive failure if you cant see anything on the hard drive. It might also be a controller failure on the external hard drive.

The only way to test this is to take the hard drive out of the enclosure and plug it into the computer directly using SATA ports. If it recognizes inside the computer then its a bad controller. If it doesnt get recognized then it could be that the hard drive failed.

Which if the case you might be able to recover some stuff using programs like diskdigger for example or by using Hdat2 or Vivard to repair the surface of the disk for corrupted bits.
