Is a Coolmaster Realpower SLI 550w 80 PLUS PSU usable for a 5870, 5850 or a gtx 285? I have a basic dg35intel mb with 2 hdds, a dvd burner, gigabyte cpu cooler, led, and 4gigs of RAM, I guess these dont use many watts, but with all of this would a 5870 or any of the other cards mentioned above at full load work with my current PSU. ITs 80plus but since it is already 2 years old it might be a bronze standard by now... I also doubt that the gtx295 would work but if so would it too?

Solution
Depends on what ya got, your OS and connected items....I'd say nada on the 295....the others are cutting it close.

let this do the math for you....don't forget fans, USB (mouse, KB, etc), firewire, etc

http://www.antec.outervision.com/

295 = 194 watts
5970 = 168
285 = 140
5870 = 102
5850 = 85

Its ok, I already got the 5850 and on the box it says the minimum is a 500w 80plus which like you said is cutting it close but mine is a 550w and i only hace a gigabyte gpowerlite, ram cooler, and an extra HDD so the 50watts extra should cover that but exactly with a little allowance....... thanks anyway
