Acer aspire 5253 sound problem

Hello all. I have an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ493 and I can't seem to record the sounds I hear from the Internet. I've downloaded the latest driver from Acer and trolled for answers with no success. I'm using Audacity, Windows Sound Recorder, and Camstudio without success. Any ideas? Thanks.

  1. You will have to set the audio device in the programs you're recording in to "What you hear". It may not be listed as "what you hear", for me it's "Rec. Playback"
  2. Arael, thanks. Would that it were so simple. I don't have that option in Audacity or Sound Recorder. Here's what I see in Audacity:
    - HOST: MME or Windows Directsound (choice of either; neither of which seems to work)
    - Playback: Speakers (Conexant High Definition) or Microsoft Sound Mapper - output
    - Recording: Microphone (Conexant High Definition) or Microsoft Sound Mapper - input

None of these or any combination I've tried seems to work. Any thoughts anyone???

    Thanks again.
