Having this problem that I thought might be a virus when I asked about it before. It finally happened when I was at his office to -see- the PC and basically it cause whatever is open to run extremely slow and usually it loses ability to connect to websites/DNS'. Well when it happened to me I actually had the Task manager previously opened and left it open so I was able to look - Everything was normal except a svchost was running at over 1.3Gigs of memory. once I told it to force close it, the desktop refreshed and the comp returned to normal.

I googled around and saw there is a 'scvhost' virus that poses at svchost - Thinking maybe I mis-read svchost I tried it but none of the fixes actually were relevant due to none of the keys they mentioned were -in- the registry.

Anyone know of the issue I'm having or what steps to take in fixing it? I'm not wanting to format it - No issue re-rolling it back to months ago at a recovery point but every time once it finishes it just says "Windows had an error recovering" etc etc.

I'm fine with closing the svchost once it makes that HUGE leap to over 1GB of memory but the issue is you can't open Task Manager once it's at that point. or anything.

Checked for viruses with
AVG Free
AVG Pro
Malware
Spybot
Windows
Uniblue. Nothing major was found, just the typical things.
