can i change my processor to a dual core
i have a goldfish2 motherboard hp compaq presario desktop

the board has a 915 chipset, too old for dual core. I suggest my old "boston" 775 board for around $60 on ebay. It requires ddr2. Your old board uses ddr.

I tried sending you email. The "boston" has a pci-e 2.0 slot and works with the e7200 or e8400 core2 duo cpus, but I can't be sure it will work with newer quads. You'll have to go through several pages on ebay to locate one. If you can't find a boston, an older chipset is the 965. Don't buy anything until you check other branded micro atx boards and read my email. If you buy from a good vender, he will list the hp boards specs on his webpage. Don't buy unless you're sure it will support the cpu you want to buy.
