i currently have
ga-p35-ds3l
intel q9550
2x2gb gskill ddr2 1066
ati 4890 1gb

i need to upgrade my motherboard as i am out of sata ports and it is the oldest part im my computer
my question is it worth upgrading my motherboard to another LGA 775 or should i upgrade my CPU and therefore my ram also

Solution
well I don't think your going to see much of a benefit from going to a core i7/i5 from a q9550 so you could probably just stay with the 775 for a bit longer, and you can get a pretty nice motherboard for alittle over a hundred bucks.

You are out of SATA ports?

I'd have to agree with jack_attack - you can get a decent controller to add on ports.

What do you have plugged in? I'm amazed that you have used them all...I've never even come close.
