how can i make windows xp pro recognize a 500gig hard drive? it only sees 138+ gig on the hard drive. i am doing an xp pro full install

  1. The original version of Windows XP could not access hard drives beyond 137GB. You need to install Service Pack 1 in order to get beyond that limit.

    If the drive in question is the one you're installing Windows XP onto, then you'll need an installation disk that has Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or later. If you don't have access to such a disk, you can create your own, see: http://lifehacker.com/386526/slipstream-service-pack-3-into-your-windows-xp-installation-cd
