looking to upgrade from my 7300le, i opted for a 9600gt. this was after a bit of research that suggested it only needed 61w. hmmm. after a bit more research it appears that it may need a tad more. looking on the nvidia site, they suggest 96w and 59w (the latter presumable the eco/green type) i believe i've bought an eco type as the core clock is showing as 600mhz. if it is not, can i simply underclock the card for the same power consumption?
system as it is now
dell amd live mobo
amd athlon 64 x2 3600+ 1.9 (am2)
philips 16x dvd read/rewrite
160gb 7200rpm hdd (ata i think?)
4x 512 ddr2 5300 667mhz
dell 19" flat screen
on board sound hda 7.1
speakers powered seperately
The rest of your system shouldn't use too much power. The 3600X2 is rather miserly which is why it can be overclocked quite a bit. If you really want to change the clocks though just download riva tuner.
