my setup ; mobo: asus crosshair V formula (amd 990fx) , cpu: amd phenom II x4 980 , gpu: hd 6850 , ram: 16gb(@1333mhz(kingston), cpu cooler: cooler master 212 evo

programs i am using: prime95, cpuz rog edition, AI suite II(version 1.02.03), amd over drive.

what the cpu is set at (according to AI suite II) :

cpu bus/PEG freq. 216 (mhz)

cpu voltage. 1.38750 ( V )

cpu/NB voltage. 1.15000 ( V )

DRAM voltage. 1.50000 ( V )

cpu multiplyer(stock) 18.5

current cpu speed 4009.6 mhz

problem is that when running prime 95 in "in-place large fft's" mode it crashes within 5 seconds but handles the other to default settings like a breeze and its not because temps get to high they would get to about 51C ish maybye on a hot day 54C <<**please note those temps are when the cpu is under full load (the room temp is about 22C and temp inside case is 24C-28c) thanks for reading this if you think you can help please suggest things that i can try

Solution
keep BUS at 200 ( the Ram speed still default ) and add voltage CPU to 1.42-1.45 max for 4Ghz and Multi at 20-21

and don't use AMD overdrive :D .. just from Bios (AI Suite)

thank so much :bounce: the voltage needed to be put at 1.44375 to get a stable overclock at 4013.6 mhz i was able to run the "in-place large fft's" mode for an hour and figurred that it was stable enough thanks again btw i just use amd over drive to monitor cpu usage and temp
