I'm building a new pc for gaming. The price I'm willing to spend is $400. I already have a graphics card and power supply so I'm not worry about that. Here is what I have come up with so far. Total at $403 $569 with GFX

CPU
Motherboard
RAM
Harddrive
DVD Drive
Case

I would like to keep the case. I have already order a Radeon 5770 for the graphics card. Can anyone make this better with less money? Im mainly going to play Dawn of War 2 and ArmA 2 on this pc. The cpu can be AMD or Intel just as long as I can get the best bang for my buck. Thank you.

NO NO NO NO NO.

Absolutely DO NOT BUILD WITH LGA775. It is a dead socket walking. Intel has already abandoned it. With you're budget, AMD is the way to go.

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8GHz

Mobo: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

Combo: CPU+Mobo $213, with $10 rebate

RAM: OCZ Gold 4 GB 1066 mhz CAS Latency 7 $75

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB $55. It's faster, quieter, and one of the cheapest/best drives out.

Optical: There's a couple that will save a few bucks, like this one for $27.

Total: $415 after rebates. There might be more combos. I didn't really look.

You do know that the Antec 300 Illusion (a better case) is the same price as the 300, right?

You could get under budget by droping a little on the case (this one is decent at $30 after rebate).
