Enabling AHCI on Asus P5K?

Hi there, I have recently ordered a 120 gb SSD drive to replace my current hard drive.
I have been told to change my bios configuration from native IDE to AHCI to increase performance on the SSD.

I will be running a clean install of Windows 7 (64) and at present have no option to change the bios to AHCI mode with my current hard drive.The only option I get is IDE.

Is there a way I can get my new SSD running In AHCI on a P5k?

Any help, much appreciated.

Will it auto detect the SSD once installed?

Im pretty sure it would auto detect in IDE mode.

Update your bios. I had an older Asus P5B mobo that had IDE/AHCI/RAID options in the bios. There isn't a consumer motherboard in the world that doesn't permit you to change these options. (OEMs sometimes lock their bioses, so you cant change things, but yours is a retail mobo i presume?)

Thx for this ROM. I tested bios from P5KR with AHCI Enabled but it disabling sata 1 & 2 ports. This works great
