DDR2 On DDR3 MOBO?

Hello,
DDR2 On DDR3 MOBO?

Is this possible? or do I have to up grade my RAM to DDR3?

I'm re building my system for my DAW.

Although both have a 240 pin architecture, DDR2 RAM modules do not work with DDR3 RAM slots and vice versa..

DDR2 simply doesn't fit into DDR3 slots. They are the same size but have the split in different places making it impossible to use DDR2 modules.

You have an option C.... You can look for a motherboard that supports both DDR2 and DRR3 memory (two sets of memory slots), if you really want to use your older DDR2 memory.

However, I agree with the other posters to just make the jump to a DDR3 motherboard and RAM in this stage of the game.
