Hey guys I'm 15 years old and I'm gonna be builing my first computer around christmas time. Ive spend 2+ weeks researching parts at newegg and I've come down to my final list, here it goes:

Lian Li Lancool PC-K58W: 79.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112238

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition NEW C3 MODEL (125w): 195.00

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

Asus Crosshair III Formula: 199.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131392

XFX Radeon HD 5870 XXX Edition 1GB (Factory Overclock): 427.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150456

4Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz: 93.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

Corsair 750w PSU: 109.99

Western Digital Caviar Black 500Gb: 69.99

Some Samsung DVD Burner: 29.99

Some internal card reader: 24.99

Samsung 2343BWX 23" 16:9 Monitor (2048x1152): 199.99

With all that it comes out to about 1,613.01 with tax and shipping AND a monitor. Im also gonna get the Logitech G9 and Razer Lycosa elsewhere at a good price.

I want to make sure that the Asus Mobo is compatible with the NEW version of the 965, because some people at newegg say it dosent work without flashing to a new BIOS. Is this gonna be a problem??

Also is this 2048x1152 monitor good? Its a wierd resolution but its higher than 1080p and I kinda like it. Im pretty sure my graphics card will run ANY game great at that resolution with the exception of a few frames on Crysis. I found a 23" Acer monitor with 1080p at Bestbuy for 159.99. I like the Samsung and it's a better brand than Acer, so should I get the Acer or Samsung??

Everything else seems fine to me and I'm getting the Windows 7 through MS's student discount for 29.99 (Hehe) cause my sister is in college.

That sums it up PHEW!! After 15 mins of typing xD. Id really appreciate any comments/ suggestions before I start ordering parts and putting this together with my pop.

Splendid
actually no. i have the msi board and i love it, but they are both the same price, but the gigabyte has sata 6 and usb 3 for some future expandability. they can both do really high frequency ram and true dual crossfire, so i would stick with the gigabyte. what about the rest of my build, looks good :D

I dont believe so...

The 965 C3 Stepping version which uses 125w is much newer and a little faster while using the same power, and saving power is better

OCZ PSU??? Recommended over CORSAIR ???? Are you crazy?

And WTF is this SEAGATE?? Western Digital is the way to go I refuse to buy cheap a$$ SEAGATES!!

The Asus Crosshair iii is the TOP OF THE LINE MOBO
75% 5 EGG Reviews dosent lie

Monitor is the same you didnt have to post it again

My case was a LIAN LI, I purpose didnt choose that case with all the flashy blue lites and the fugly design

And DVD is fine for me why pay more?

You forgot a video card and memory so thats about 500 bucks easily.

I said gimmie some suggestions, not make it worse!

Im 15 years old not stupid

Splendid
1. the 965 is a 955 oc'ed for 20$ and they are both 125w so?
2.corsair makes the most highest quality psus, with ocz in a close 2nd or 3rd (for 50$ less too)
3. i hate seagate too, but the WD drives are much slower, go with this if you want to compromise:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

its faster and more reliable, but it was out of stock before.

4. yea, right. this one is cheaper, oc's better, has sata 6 and usb 3, more video card slots, and made by an equally quality company. the crosshair is good, but it is not even close to as good as this.

5.monitor is the same, go with the same dvd, nobody cares about that

6. the antec 900 is way better than that lil li anyday, more fans, more space, eqaul build quality, and better features.

7. i included the vid card and ram in the price, but forgot to post, so here they are:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827100058

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001317

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128415

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231321

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.309421

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.310963

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.262009

all in all 1420.90, and it is better.

Agree with ares. Much better build. With the exception of having 2 PSUs...

Couple of little improvements.

First, there's this LG 22X SATA burner that's cheaper at $28, and has free shipping.

Second, those are good sitcks of RAM, but with shipping, a little more expensive than these: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 1600 MHz CAS Latency 7. They aren't low voltage though. So I guess you should choose the $6 now or the lower power bill later. But I doubt the OP pays for the power...

Third, that Samsung is the best HDD on the market. It's only beaten by SSDs. The Seagate 7200.12 is a close second. Both of these are cheaper, faster, quieter and just playin better than comparable WDs. WD better get their act together if they want to stay in the game. Anyone who shuns them for their brand's name is just being stupid with their money.

Fourth, OCZ is just a respectable as Corsair is in PSUs. Both have very low failure rates, with OCZ being a lot cheaper. Even cheaper than OCZ, with extremely high quailty are the Antec Earthwatts series. Any of these three brands should be used in any build. After that, it can get dicey.

And way to attack the person helping you.

IDK Im gonna have to stick with the same parts. Id rather spend a little more on quality parts that I have used before. I have a WD Harddrive and a Asus Mobo in my computer from 2001 and nothing has ever had a problem.

No im listening i didnt ask you to make me a computer for 1500 I just want to know YOUR opinion on the parts and maybe a suggestion on one or two different parts. not building me a whole other computer with crap components. And how will it run new games you think?
