X3 is very good, you can try to unlock to 4 cores, would recommend getting 4 gigs of ram and where is your video card?

What would you recomend for RAM for Vista and what do you mean unlock the 4 cores?

4 maybe 6 if you need, oh and on AMD chips and on certain motherboards you can unlock the extra core because instead of throwing out miscut 4 cores, they find the number of bad cores and lock them. While they didnt pass the inspection, they still can be used but you just have to supply extra power to them.
