I have a PHENOM2 X3 720 (7.5MB CACHE & 2.8 GHZ); 4GB HYPER X 1066MHZ RAM, MOTHER GYGABYTE WHIT AMD G760 CHIPSET AND A 320 SATA2 WHIT 16MB BUFFER.

I just upgrade from MSI 8800 GT 512MB DDR3 to a
MSI HD4870 512MN DDR5.

THERE ARE "TINNY" DIFERENCES IN GAMES PERFORMANCE BETTWEEN THE GRAPHICS CARDS ! ! !

IN BOTH CASES I CAN NOT RUN AT TOOP OF RESOLUTION IN THE LCD
(1920 * 1080) WHIT 2FSAA A 2X ANISOTROPIC.

IN OTHER CASES, 8800 GT RUNS BETTER THAN HD4870
(RACING GAMES FOR EXAMPLE)

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??????!!!!!!!!

WHIT A PHENOM2 X4 955 OR AVOBE WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM ??????

THANKS A LOT !

No, a 8800GT would not beat a HD 4870...
8800GT is likely about the same performance with HD 4850...

Have u install the latest version of the driver for your HD4870?

Overclocking is not an option due to high enviromental temperatures (watercooling and AC escape to my budget).
Im not looking for 60 FPS !!!, Im only wants 35/30 top ! but a little bit smoother....
I tried lowering details, but whitout succeful results.
I don´t have problems whit overall temperatures and voltages.

I went from an 8800GTS to a 4870 and didn't get the huge difference I was looking for myself. This was about a year+ ago, but I was a bit dissapointed myself. Try cleaning all drivers and installing the latest 9.12 ATI drivers. Also, check for any game updates.

good call Taco, i was just going to say that, the 1GB 4870 would show an improvement over the 512 meg 4870. Maybe not too much of an improvement, but it would be noticeable.

I went from a 256MB 8500GT to a 1GB 4870 and the improvement was substantial. I know a 8500 is no match for a 8800. I run Crysis in 1920x1200 with 4AA and high settings and it works fine 99% of the time. As stated above, the problem is likely 512MB.

Definitely a memory problem at that resolution with only 512mb and AA enabled.

Yeah, the 4870's definitely powerful enough to use 1024MB.
512MB is usually enough for 1920x1200 but with AA enabled you could really use the extra RAM.
