This is my first real build. I tinker around with computers sooo much. but like, I've never dealt with anything AMD or built a computer from scratch before. My friend sold me on AMD over Intel :$ so I went for it.

i dont know what ram to pick, i prefer g skill. but i dont know what mhz i should buy.

Also gpu wise, i dont know yet.

This entire rig is going to be updated eventually, my cpu to a phenom, the power supply, and probably crossfire graphics. but i want to make sure everything will work first, thats what i want to know. Also, any guilds on installing stuff. like how do you go about it ? i dont know how to install like the hard drive and disk drives and stuff

They are all compatible but consider:

1. A Gigabyte or ASUS board

2. A Corsair, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, Antec, or Seasonic PSU. Thermaltake is a hit or miss imo.

Thankks. does the guild cover the actual installing of the harddrives and stuff ? i can plug them in and everything. i just dont know how to actually install them

That motherboard you have linked is an older one. If you look at the specs it only handles RAM up to DDR3-1066 like these OCZ Gold.

i've seen lots of posts about ram dropping down mhz. if i put in like 1333 g skills. would it drop them down to 1066? or would it just not work

RAM should run at a slower speed without any problem.

Depends on what the motherboards autodetect does. Sometimes you have to set the RAM manually even when the motherboard should not need a change to the settings.

i might just buy 4 x 1gb sticks of g skill ram at 1066, thats probably the simplest solution for what i want. (this build is just to get me ready for a more complected build im doing in a year or so. either way, i have 2x256mb ddr333 sticks right now so like, 4Gb of 1066mhz would easily be 3x as fast i would think, and the extra ram will be needed for windows 7 and some light starcraft 2 gaming i would think
