Hola,

Just built my pc a few days ago and i noticed that my cpu is running around 55c under load (home movie ripping with Handbrake). This process pushes all four cores to 99% or so. At idle, I run about 25C

Is this normal? I did a little research and all signs point to no.

Im using the heatsink/fan the chip came with. It had substance already on the heatsink (three square pads of some sort).

I essentially installed the chip, grabbed the cooler and installed it....the instructions did not include any prep instructions for any thermal paste application or heatsink prep.

Thanks!

Gracias everyone! With little money (thanks to newegg) I was a little worried about frying a $200 chip. Just learning all the ins and outs concerning computer builds. Prior to this, i just bought whatever was on the shelf at BestBuy...this is definitely better.
