I just recently built a core i7 machine and im having no better frame rates in world of warcraft than I was with my dell xps 600.

Old Computer:
Dell XPS 600
Dual Core 3.0 Intel
2x Nvidia 6800 256k
2GB DDR2 Ram
Windows XP 32

New Computer:

X58 SLI LE
Intel Core i7 920 2.66
GTS 250 1GB 256 bit
6 GB ddr3 Ram
Antec 750W PSU
Windows 7 64

"My problem is Im getting the same frame per second as I was in the old system. I put the new computer together, started it up, and it updated all the drivers itself. When I put the disk in for the Motherboard it tells me it cannot run the "update chipset drivers" thing becasue it only works on Windows XP and Windows Vistal and wont allow me to go any further. I know for a fact the computer is better and the video card is better but im not getting any better results. Please help !

For an online game, there's always the chance that the Internet connection is the limiting factor.

Does it get any better results in offline games?

I get 10.5 MBps down

Internet isnt a problem

You cannot use an install of ANY kind of windows from ANY different model of motherboard on a new one. If you wanna do that, use linux. (I've done it plenty of times, its awesome) Reinstall windows and get all the drivers. Especially the graphics card driver.

wow, I totally missed that right in the second post of the thread. yes, always re-install Windows with a new motherboard. I'm amazed the system even got as far as it did.

The GTS 250 is your limiting factor!
Two 6800 in SLI were very quick cards, near the performance of the 7800 GT, in SLi the two cards come very very close to one GTS250!

The GTS 250 is just a rebadged 9800 GTX+.

What resolution are you playing at?

How did you come to this conclusion? On synthetic benchmarks the 6800 Sli didn't peform very well, when it actually played games very well. And newer cards come with newer shader models and newer tweaks etc. which means they get extra point on synthetic benchmarks.

You built a core i7 computer to play WoW? Geez my 6 year old P4 rocks WoW just fine.

And yes you will need to format your drive and re-install windows if you replace your motherboard.

I agree in principle with tridec. The GTS 250 is not much better than your old graphics. Also you possibly changed from DX9 to DX10 and while DX10 looks better it does take more graphics power to match the same frame rates.

What you can do is turn off Anti Aliasing in WoW and that may substantially help your frame rate.

Unfortuantely you have built an unbalanced system that is very processor heavy. You have an expensive high end CPU and a low end graphics card.

yea reinstall and also wat frames are you getting?

Disable VSYNC, then the fps should go up.
