Copying main drive while in use

i have a small hdd in my laptop. have one formatted that is twice as big, now can i drag c drive and click copy to put the system and os on the new drive?

Just copying and pasting would not install the system to new HDD; however you can use some disk cloning software like Acronics, EaseUs etc.
