CD-RW Has disappeared from XP !!!

Hello Friends and Experts, my problem is when i insert cd/dvd in the SATA optical drive then it automatically disappeared from the my computer and from the device manager, i it again seen after next boot and if cd inserted then again problem arise. and during this phase the front button of the optical drive is also not working and cd/dvd is stuck in the drive itself !! this is very irritating situation, and i m using windows xp pro. i also tried for the tricks mentioned on the internet about the registry tweaks but that also not working so is it any hardware related issue ?? plz friends help me asap............ thanks

Check data and power connections! If they are fine replace drive.
