Maxtor basics portable storage 250gb

Hello,
I have a USB external hard drive from maxtor and its not accessible on a fine morning. I used it to store many data and to backup my stuff from the laptop and disconnected nicely just 2 weeks back, and now its not showing anything other than a drive symbol.

Does your external drive appear in BIOS and Disk Management (Right click on Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management) - If it appears in Disk Management, you need to assign it a drive letter by right clicking on it.
Also check, if this drive is detected on some other computer.

Hi,
Thank you for the response, yes its visible in the disk Management and shows E: drive and shows the size, but it shows no FS type, shows 240 GB available
But while seeing properties in side "My Computer" it shows 0 byte total, 0 bytes free
