Hello, I am building a new PC in a month or so and am looking to get the ASUS P6X58d mobo and obviously the Noctua NH-D14. My question is what is the best ram I can get for this build and will let me use all my ram slots. I will be willing to go with 2 different brands if it means better performance and am new to OCing so I am not sure if I can oc the ram if I do that? My budget for all 12gb is in the $350-$400 range. Thanks!

these are some that I am looking at
Crucial ballistix not sure if I will go with the "tracer" model. Will I lose any performance if I pay the extra for the pretty? - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148254

Kingston Hyper x - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104190

Muskin Redline - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226121

Corsair- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145286

or if i remove the heat sinks I could go with the Corsair Dominator? But that will put me slitely over budget.

G.Skill Ripjaws - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231304

I have a noctua D-14... I found that the mushkin redline enhanced does fit and it is ddr3 1600 6-8-6-24 @ 1.65 v you didn't not mention what grade you need or your budget for the ram. this ram is a little more expensive. however IMO it is worth it. others may disagree, after all it is an opinion.. you probably will not have any issues as long as you don't get ram with high heatsinks

I am using their triple chanel 6GB kit.. but you can use 2 of them they are at $199 for the kit

not sure what you mean by grade?and I did mention my budget. I would like 1600 MHz and something that over clocks nice. Triple channel. I have looked at Noctua's website and i know what ram is compatible. my question basically is of the ram that is compatible what is my best option as far as performance? I am strongly leaning towards the g.skill ripjaws.

I have overclocked I am running 4011 atm 21x191 3438 QPI link with 1.264v ( prob could go lower but I will be pushing further as my temps are very much under control at 72C for the highest core under prime/Linx as far as ram I have heard ppl gettign it to 2000Mhz with the redlines if you relax the timings

Yeah I am a total noob at OCing so that really confused me it sounds like from what little i know you are talking about your processor oc settings. I am wondering about what you have your ram overclocked. like is it 1800 at 8-8-8-20 or what have you.

oh lol I have my ram at just under 1528. the next higher multi would require me to relax timings. and I have not had a chance to do so. BUT there are alot of ppl getting it to 2000 with say 8-9-8-? or 9-9-9-? ymmv I was thinking of seeing how far i can push it.. I know it will do 1664 at 6-8-6-24 because I had it there when i first started overclocking.

And yes I was talking about processor overclocking settings
