Differences between intel core 2 duo processor T5870 and Intel Core i5-430M

Hello, I am in Portland, OR. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad with Centrino core 2 duo processor T5870. I feel a bit of buyers remorse because I also liked the Sony E series i5-430M processor model.I feel I've made a mistake in selecting the Thinkpad, as is a built bulky also. Would anyone out there see a signifigant difference between the two models other than one being Centrino core 2 duo, and the other being the i-5-430M? No gaming, mostly spreadsheets, skype, web, movies. Any opinions out there? Thanks!

  1. I think the i5 there would perform about 25% better without taking into consideration the other components of the system. Would it be noticeable to you? Probably not.
  2. The i5 is better, but I would actually say you made the right choice. Thinkpads are built solidly, and have excellent cooling, both of which are more important to me in a laptop than absolute performance.
