AMD Phenom II X3 720 with 7600GT - 3DMark06 Scores

I'm in the process of building a new machine. I had a motherboard go out on me so I had to upgrade that first....not my first choice but it had to be done. I put in a Phenom II X3 720 with 4 Gig DDR3 RAM. I still have my old 7600GT from way back when. I've overclocked everything I could on it. When I run 3DMark06 I get scores in the low 4000's. Is the 7600GT limiting my PC that bad? I knew I was GPU limited but geez.

Any thoughts?

  1. You are correct the 7600GT is the limiting factor it is getting old.
  2. Think of it, the 7xxx series is how old?

    7xxx
    8xxx
    9xxx
    GT2xx
GT3xx (due in a couple months, or so Nvidia says)

    Time for an upgrade....
  3. I plan to upgrade next month....I'm hoping to see some price drops hopefully otherwise I'll just have to bite the bullet. My plan was to upgrade the 7600GT first then the old E6600 but that's not how it decided to go. What are you gonna do. I was just suprised it was that limiting of a factor.
  4. Upgrade the gpu to a new one
  5. I would suggest to buy ATI Radeon 5770 or 5750. Those cards support DirectX 11. When you are to upgrade then why not go for the latest??
