Im looking at building a new computer because unfortunatly the laptop i was useing since i went to college back in 2007 died. Im looking for some advice cause i have never built a computer and i have limited knowledge of the hardware and what i should be looking for.

Approximate Purchase Date: Since im in college still and strapped for cash at times im looking at building over the next month or two probably. Im looking at maybe 600 to 700 dollars for the hardware and another 200-300 for the os and any other software. Its a tight budget but im not looking for the best stuff out there.

System Usage From Most to Least Important: World of Warcraft!!!! im obsessed i know it oh well, Web Surfing, Possible Programming in the future when i get deeper in my degree. still only a sophmore credits wise.

Parts Not Required: I pretty much need everything. i have an ancient computer that i may be able to take parts from if need be (9 yrs) but i know theres probably not a chance im going to be able to do that and still be compatible. Mouse not required.

Prefered Website : Probably newegg.com because its what i have seen for suggestions.

Parts Preference: Im not really preferential to the parts. Just looking for cost and speed.

Overclocking : Im new to building.....what do u think. Ya didnt think so.

Additional Comments : Im a college student so i need something thats not going to have issues with many things going on at once. As a gamer i have alot of things happening at once and i need them to run smoothly. Im not looking to run wow on full settings. My laptop now is a POS that runs at like 5 fps in a 25 raid with 500ms lagg so its bad. i have huge lagg spikes that i would like to not have to deal with. toher then that im really not looking for a high end computer just one that runs what i need and could be upgradeable in the future.

What i got : Ive done a bit of research and this is what i got

Tower: Not too picky. just so it fits everything. Unsure what i should look for.

OS: Windows 7??? not sure bout that but possibility. Since im still in school i can get a good deal on it

Software : Need Microsoft office which i should be able to get cheap since im in school

Total so Far: That comes to be about $540 before rebates. thats cheaper then i was expecting but i know i still got more to get. I want to get an os and office which should come to be around 250 or so with what i figure. Please let me know your inpute and adivce if you got it. If i missed anything let me know. That 7600 GS video card you chose is a TERRIBLE value and a pretty awful performer as well... avoid it like the plague. Anyways, it's an AGP card... that's a no-go in 2009.

I got an Asus 22 inch LCD for $139... kinda makes your $129 19 inch look like a stinker. Overall, Obsidian provided you a lot of good links and recommendations.

lower price?
-Cheaper/smaller monitor (or ur pkg) or even go 2nd hand/craigslist
-cheaper GFX/GPU
-1 stick of RAM rather than 2
-cheaper/smaller harddrive
-cheaper case (as long as its full ATX size, you should manage for WOW and programming)
