9600gt arrived, but i think i'm screwed?

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

the 7300le upgrade has arrived. i thought it was an 'eco/green' version because it was shown as having 600mhz core clock speed. i'm presuming the fact it has a 6 pin connector means that it is not. i've taken a couple of photo's of the pc and the card. i cannot find a 6 pin connector. can i use one of the loose wires (4pin) and use an adaptor? sandra says my pci-ex16 is version 1
any help is welcome

the psu reads as follows
305w
+5 22a -12 1a
+5(fp) 4a +3.3 17a
+12va 18a +12vb 18a
3.3v 5v 150w max
combined +12va and +12vb 264w max
max continous power output 305w

i've read so many conflicting suggestions as to wether the psu is good enough or not, i've gone almost brain dead over it.

thanks for the 4-6 pin link.

worst ways, i'll sell the card and get a 9600gt/9800gt eco/green or go 4670. i thought the 4770 needed a 6 pin too?

many thanks

You will be fine with that psu it has two +12 volt rails at 18 amps each but total of 22 combined. That should be sufficient to run that card.

You can get 6-pin adapters that will fix that problem. It's not that the PSU can't handle the load, it's just older, and the older PSU's used 4 pin molex adapters instead.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice.
i had to buy a 4pin molex to two 4 pin lead and a 2x4pin to 6pin lead. it's christmas eve and that's the only way it was going to happen any time soon.
the card didn't fit as the end that has the hdmi/dvi (?)out things (to the monitor) is twice the height of the old card. i couldn't help myself and took the hacksaw to the back of the case and the card. in it went, power connector on, booted up, loaded its own drivers and hey presto.
i gave oblivion a go at 1280x1024 4xaa and high settings. all ran fine.

thanks again guys
