Pc suddenly restarts or freezes

My xp pc suddenly restarts or freezes. I've run Windows scan of the C drive and all of Norton's scans.

What is a Windows scan, you refer to ? Is that System File Checker ?
Did you look in event viewer for errors ? Have you attempted to repair the OS ?
