Help me to solve CPU overheating prob.

my processor is overheating while playing games..
generally its temp.is 45-50 Celsius when no application is running.
when i launch games it reaches to 70 Celsius & games starts lagging.
after tat i remove the side panel of my Cabinet no change in temp....I already connected external fan on rear side of my cabinet.i haven't overclocked it. wht will be reason???
my system spec are:

CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ AM2(2.7GHz)
GPU : ATI Radeon HD 4770 "DDR5" 3.2Ghz
Mobo : ASUS M2N-MX SE PLUS
RAM : 2 X 1Gb Teancend 800 MHz DDR2
HDD : Samsung 160GB SATA,80GB PATA
PSU : 450W

so..............................
tell me solution & tips to cool down my CPU Temp.

  1. Ummm....Just Raise the fan speed to maximum.

    Which 450W PSU is it?

    Otherwise get an aftermarket cooler for your CPU.But we need a budget for any recommendation.
  2. Get a new cooler... And if possible you could go for the new athlon 2x4.. Some are really selling cheap..
  3. Where are you? What are your ambient temps?

    clean up the cooler of any dust
    set fan to 100% in BIOS

    get a new cooler if neither of these help.
  4. Mate of mine has AMD x3 and it also ran very hot, till he turn off all the smart fan setting and ramped up the fan speeds.

    there is fan labeled AMD on the processor....
