Installing cd reader to motherboard asrock p67

Do I use the standard floppy cable? It recognizes as a floppy drive not a cd drive

You need to provide more info. CD readers are either ATA, SATA, or USB. If you have an old ATA CD reader (which id probably ATA) you need an ATA port or a converter for ATA to SATA or USB. A standard floppy connector to the mobo will recognize the drive as a floppy and may cause all sorts of errors.
