I'm in need of some help. I've used my computer for at least a year now and it is restarting only while playing games i can do anything else and it will not restart.

Ive run prime95 for 4hrs and no errors or problems, ran the windows memtest and had no problems!

I can play like not so demanding games with no restarts aka wow and heroes 5.. but when i move on to play like CoD: MW2 or batman AA or Crysis warhead.. it runs for like 30min sometimes more sometimes less then restarts.

Could a bad PSU be making it restart? such as a cheap no name brand?

PC specs:

Q6600 stock cooling with no OC
Gigabyte EP45-ud3l MoBo
4gb ddr 800 transcend
Radeon 4870x2
ezcool 1000 psu
raidmax Aztec case

Also if it is possibly the PSU what wattage PSU should i aim to get to run my system?

Thanks in advance!

I Had this problem, have you run a temp test while playing a game to see what temps you are getting? My problem was my PC was overheating while playing games which made it restart. I believe anything above 60-65C is considered bad ( my CPU was personally rated at 70-72C ).

While testing with prime95 my cpu temp went to about 60c and room temp is pretty high 28-30+ since its summer here.

Sorry if the image is a bit big if i scale it down it becomes un-readable. Anyway i took this a few min ago after running prime95..

Only reason speed fan is there is to show the voltage of the +12v rail with is showing at 1.28v which really doesnt seen right.

If speed fan is showing that correctly means i should replace my psu correct?

I ran OCCT, and for the gpu + cpu everything was fine..

I did however play Batman Arkham Asylum for awhile in windowed mode and didn't have a restart at all =/

Have you updated all your drivers? Seems irrelevant but if windowed mode worked fine its worth a shot.
