Can I use DDR3 to replace DDR2

Sorry, but you can "not" run DDR3 memory in an DDR2 motherboard unless it's a hybrid board made with 2 styles of memory slots. And even then they can't be used at the same time.

Correct^
You can't use a DDR3 RAM to replace DDR2, because they are not compatible.
Also even on some boards which support both DDR2 and DDR3, you can't use them together.
