New P6T build will not post

Hi all,

System specs:

i7 920
XFX HD 5870
6 gig gskill 1600 ram
2 x WD 620 gig HDD
Antec blue 750 watt psu
blue ray drive
cooler master v8 cooler
xclio case

I power up the new build...all fans are running, and everything seems to be lit up properly; however i get no video output to a confirmed working monitor, and there are no beeps (yes a system speaker is installed on the mobo).

I tried bread boarding it to no avail. The only thing on the checklist i havent done is checking the thermal grease, which im going to do in a bit...reapply it.


any thoughts? is the board doa? I really want to get this working since it was a 1400 dollar xmas gift

I think I've narrowed the problem down to a faulty motherboard. I tried powering the board without the ATX 12v 4-8Pin connector plugged in. Everything powers. When i plug the ATX 12v 4-8Pin connector in, the psu fails to power everything...turning off and on every couple of seconds.

looks like the mobo is bad...can the community confirm?

If your PSU can't power everything with the Mobo plugged in, then another possible problem would be the PSU itself.

The PSU is plenty powerful...750 watts. I believe the board is shorted due to the problem i just mentioned.

ok, i've just tried a 10 minute CMOS reset....no luck. The power supply goes on and off every couple seconds when the 8 pin connector is plugged in. When it is not plugged in, the psu stays on and powers everything on the board.

also tried a second brand new psu, same result....

so it is a faulty mobo, yes?

i dont know what else to try
