I built a computer with an i7 920 and a Gigabyte ex58a-ud3r. When I went into the bios i found i could move the cpu multiplier up and down. I moved the multiplier from 20 to 21 and I am now running at 2.8 ghz instead of 2.66. I will experiment more when I get a bigger heatsink as soon I can find the one I want in stock, but is this a known "bug"? Or did I get a $1000 Processor for 300?

No, I definitely set it to 21 because i only have the stock heatsink, i just popped it to 23 and it works at 3.06 ghz. Thanks for the troll though, didn't realize this was a high school forum.

I've built over 30 computers. I spent the last two years in Iraq and have been out of the loop for a while, so this is my first build since Q6600 was the newest thing.
