SATA Hard Drive boots system but not seen in disk management

I have a SATA drive that is acting peculiar. It boots the system and is completely accessable for file saving and installations and is even visible in the disk defragmenter but is not visible in the disk management. I can't partition the drive. Has anyone seen this before?

  1. What do you see in the disk manager then? (Strange indeed)
  2. Only my DVD drive. Also if I look at the hard drive properties under hardware it also lists the DVD drive. It's weird.
  3. I have never seen such behavior before.

Back up all the data you need and "secure erase" or "zero fill" the drive. Reinstall windows and programs. Only thing I can think of...
  4. RootKit Revealer works well on XP 32 bit.
