You could probably get a few MHz on it. The stock AMD coolers actually arent that bad. Use Intel Burn Test or Prime95's Small FFT test and do a little overclocking and see what you get. May even be able to hit 4.0 since most BD's can do 4 gig on stock voltage.

As mentioned though, you really should invest in a better cooler. You can get top of the line air coolers for well under $100 so it shouldnt take you that long to scrape together enough cash.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll end up purchasing a new cooler. I'd like to stick to air-cooling. Stew, of the two air coolers you recommended, which one would you favor?

You can use the high profile Vengeance RAM with a Hyper 212 but you have to use the 2 outside slots. The 2 inside slots are blocked. So as long as you're using the outside slots, a Hyper 212 will work.

Thanks, I'm using ripjaws, but i'm using all four slots. Will the Hyper 212 still fit?

The newer fan mount allows you to move the fan up the heat sink for some extra clearance.

-Just checked a couple pics of ripjaws and they look like they could fit without mounting the fan higher. But you can move the fan if needed.

I have a hyper 212 with a push-pull fan setup and had to shift one of the fans up the heat sink to clear one stick of Patriot Sector 5 RAM. (All my slots are in use too)
