Samsung 830 128GB

PC Specs:

MB: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5
CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 @ 3.8 GHz
Memory: 4GB Cruical Ballistix DDR3 @ 1600MHz
O/S: Windows 7 x64

So... I just finished setting up my new SSD (installed windows and followed all the TomsHardware guides for best SSD setup within Windows to increase performance/life)

I decided to run a benchmark, using AS SSD... I'm seeing some very strange numbers and I need help with this issue.

Seq- Read: 468.45 MB/s Write: 31.13 MB/s
4K- Read: 20.04 MB/s Write: 1.98 MB/s
4K-64Thrd- Read: aborted Write: aborted
Acc.time- Read: aborted Write: aborted

Why is my write speed not even CLOSE to the proper speeds?

P.S. yes... my motherboard is in AHCI mode and from what I can tell, I'm plugged into the 6Gb/s SATA. I was under the impression that after following the guides and setting everything up right, I'd be getting at least close to advertised speeds.

  1. Nevermind... figured it out myself. Thanks... I guess?

Turns out I needed to install the AHCI drivers from my mobo, not just use the default Win7 ones.

    After this test I got...

    Seq- Read: 496.77 MB/s Write: 308.17 MB/s
    4K- Read: 23.81 Write: 89.85
    4K-64Thrd- Read: 214.81 Write: 80.81
    Acc.time- Read: .089 ms Write: .041 ms

    Score: Read: 288 Write 201
