hello I have an Intel i5 650 3.2Ghz, a foxconn p55a motherboard and a stock heatsink and fan. 2x2gb 1333mhz memory in dual mode.

according to CPUID hardware monitor, core 0 runs about 20C on idle and core 1 runs a bit hotter (about 25C). also I am just using 4 pins to power my cpu as it is all my PSU has to offer, but it works fine.

I use my machine for gaming, photo editing and web browsing but i would like to get a little more out of it. im thinking if i do overclock i would go for about 3.6ghz?? just a little but it's a start

I have never over clocked before but I am prepared to do excessive amounts of research on how to if you guys think it's a good idea for me to OC

U could dl prime95 (free) and do a stress test and keep watch of the temp at working state...

It will determent if u need aftermarket cooler (usually u will need it)

ah yes now i know why my cores were so cold because my cpu only clocks at the speed it needs to (about 1ghz). the stress testing took both cores up to about 40-45c and 3.3ghz
