GPU throttling in furmark?

I have an Asus gts450.
When I try to overclock to 1ghz furmark tells me it's in fact 999mhz. When I try to overclock to, say, 1005 furmark tells me it's still at 999mhz and 6mhz are throttled. I also tried raising voltage from 1.1 to 1.162 which is the max so power isn't an issue, but it still doesn't work gives me the same thing.
I don't really care about 10mhz but is running it at max speed dangerous? I mean, since they added throttling at that speed it could mean they decided it isn't too safe for the card, right?

Maybe your chip won't hit those clock speeds.

yeah but, on the internet I saw people say that this throttling thing kicks in when the temps are very high but I only get 60-70 celsius in furmark, with room temp of 31+ so this seems kinda odd to me. I also seen people get 1050mhz on 450.

maybe it's furmark? it could be giving a false reading. it could also be your overclocking program. try MSI afterburner for OCing and try MSI kombuster to stress your card. but like amuffin said, it just could be the chip, like a manufacturer cap or something.

I think you're both right, I checked it in MSI afterburner and it's reading the same thing, 999mhz but that's enough for me anyways, just wanted to know if this is normal.
Thanks for your help.
