i want to get to 5.0, but seems like it gets exponentially difficult with these six core IB chips after 4.7. anyone else have any ideas?Since you are running 64gb of 2133mhz memory you could experiment dropping the memory speed down so you're not overclocking the CPUs memory controller to 1866mhz, 1600mhz, or even 1333mhz and tighten the timings at the lower memory speeds and see if that drops you CPUs overall temperature to push higher multipliers.
You're adding heat to the CPU by overclocking the CPUs memory controller past it's design specifications, and I fully understand going past design specifications is what overclocking is all about, but in your case it may be also holding your multiplier level hostage.
You could try 1600mhz at 9,9,9,24 or 25 at a 2T command rate @ 1.50v and see what happens with your temperatures by just changing that for a test.
If you don't mind would you list the exact memory module model #s and specs of the 2133mhz modules you are running?

This is the exact model: F3-2133C9Q2-64GZH
It's actually rated for 2133 so I'm not overclocking it. Just loaded the XMP profile.
I actually tinkered around with it initially at standard 1600 without any XMP profile (increased voltage) and dropped down to 2 sticks and that didn't make a difference.
It's looking like the best I'm going to get with this chip is 4.7 unless I go to some elaborate custom water cooling configuration.

Not an unlocked 2600, but I've done what I can. Slightly increased bus speed and permanent turbo boost with the speed stepping/power saving features disabled. Also, the idle temp is high because I accidentally installed the second fan backwards when I validated. It's fixed now.

Is this club still alive? I pm'd amuffin back Jan 13, 2014 (2 days after my initial post). Since then it's been nearly 3 weeks and no answer.
I went to UCLA my dad disappeared in the middle of my first quarter, I had to work 3 jobs with no car so I of all people get the plight of having to work and go to a very difficult college.
If I were to be in a position of authority during that time, I still wouldn't ignore responsibility to this extent. You need to always hold yourself accountable and at least take the time to communicate what you can or cannot take care of so that others as a consequence can create solutions to fill in for you.
This is not a personal attack on amuffin but yes I am calling him out. I actually made my first attempt to join this club nearly a year ago and said nothing and observed the same behavior but have given him the benefit of the doubt.
I'm not asking to take over this as I am not a moderator by any means. But perhaps there is someone else who can handle this level of commitment better where it's within reason. This is unreasonably neglectful to be tolerated much further. I may sound upset but I'm not. I'd just like to keep others who are building their enthusiasm for this community to be rewarded with more fairness.
So amuffin, if you care about this little club at all still, could you take a moment to address the neglect. Whatever you're going through I'm sure it's hard whether it's the loss of a loved one, difficulties in a relationship, school, work, family or all of the above at the same time, I get it. I am the last person to be insensitive to that but there is a level of respect you must always maintain and that is your integrity. Please display some of it soon!
Your last public contribution for this club was October 18, 2013. It's a new year, let's get back on the horse and ride it with a much better standard! Thank you!
With all due respect,
Justin S.

So Tiger direct was selling refurbished H100's for $50, so I installed one and decided to push my OC.
4.7 is doable but it needs >1.4v to get it stable and then my temps start creeping past the mid 70's with ITBT. (Even with the H100)
4.5 seems comfy:

Not stable but check this out.

I do not want this posted as all I want posted is stable results for myself because this validation means absolutely nothing as it crashed immediately after, and anyone seriously overclocking to stability knows that!

The first one is from run 9 of the IBT just to show temps and voltage during the test itself. Hopefully that will do
Go easy on me if I mess anything up, I'm fairly new to overclocking and a newly registered Tom's user. First of all here's my set-up:

Hey guys. I wanna OC my i5 4670k. My CPU cooler is an H100i with two SP120 high's in PUSH so cooling should not be a problem
Questions: How do I OC? I know a bit, But not too much. My motherboard is an MSI Z87 GD65.
If I find a stable overclock but I want more, by how much do I raise the voltage?
What software do I need to make sure its stable? I have Cinebench, HW monitor, CPU Z,Heaven benchmark, OCCT, PRime 95,Valley benchmark, Intel burn test and a few more. Which of those will I need and when do I use each one?
Thanks!

Hi all, Novuake and I are going to get everything running up really soon. We are in the process of coordinating with each other and figuring out when each of us can work on the club!
Here are somethings we are planning on doing:
Google Form (You fill it out and submit it, then post an image into the thread for verification)
OC Competitions? (We have not figured this out)

Leung Kenneth and chikhar.
We need validation screenshot from you please.
"Stable OC rules
Take a screenshot of CPU-Z next to a running stress testing program (EX: 10 runs of Intel Burn In on medium)
Posts without a CPU-Z Validation next to a stress testing program to verify stability will not be added, but they will be added to the Unstable/Insane Overclocking section. "

This is the exact model: F3-2133C9Q2-64GZHIt's actually rated for 2133 so I'm not overclocking it.
I also have 2133 memory, but found the I5 much easier to o/c reducing the memory to 1600, hit 4.8GHz.
