I have two ancient parts and I need help in choosing the best part. The choice is between Geforce 440MX w/64mb ram or GF 5200 w/128mb ram (both AGP) This is for a build for my 10 year old nephew (age of empire/mythology, and Rome conquest games). Thanks.

According to the graphics card hierarchy chart (would have answered your question to search for it at the top of the site), the 5200 is 3 tiers higher than the 440MX, so the 5200. Although these cards will ONLY, and I seriously mean ONLY old games like those listed. It absolutely, positively, will not be able to play any new games.

thanks, he's okay with that. No new games. I think he may eventually want to play WoW, I'll have to look at those requirements. We'll go with the 5200. And I'll look at that chart. Thanks.

After some more research, the 5200 is more advanced (newer shader units) but actually slower in real world for older games.

I saw this theme over and over on google search 440mx vs 5200
but I'll still prob put that crappy 5200 in there. Also have an ATI x800 Pro but I think that's too good for a P4 1.30ghz on PC-133.

I have 5-6yrs old barely used Bfg gfx 5900xt 128mb agp somewhere. You will see it is a great card if you do a little research. I could do something but don't know forum rules much.
